GyRad 10 yearsGyRad, company spin off from the University of Algarve, from scientific research activities in Medical Physics, celebrated, last April 1st, ten years of activity.

The University of Algarve explains that «GyRad was created by Patrick Sousa, in 2006, from an application to the first ideas contest promoted by CRIA – Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer Division, in 2004, with the aim of measuring radiation issued by the most diverse devices used in everyday life, in particular, in companies. The main objective is to carry out quality radiographs with the lowest possible dose of radiation».

According to the Algarve Academy, «currently [GyRad] is a leading company, consisting of physical engineers qualified in radiological protection, with a presence throughout the national territory and with the means to respond to the needs of the various health service operators who have facilities of radiodiagnostics'.

Since its inception, this company has been growing steadily, and has a portfolio of over a thousand clients, including medical diagnostic clinics, dental clinics, veterinary clinics, among others.

GyRad also develops a research strand, with the participation of students from UAlg, in the area of ​​Radiology.
