Anyone who dreams of being a wine producer in the Algarve, and is willing to spend 9,5 million euros, has the opportunity to buy a well-known wine-growing business and all the properties associated with it.
The Adega do Cantor, linked to the famous British musician Cliff Richard and equipped with the most modern equipment for wine production, the three vineyards associated with it, with a total of 26 hectares, three luxury villas and respective leisure areas, were placed on sale recently and offers are already accepted for those who want to buy this entire package.
Nigel Birch and his son Max Birch are the current managers of Adega do Cantor and, amongst them, the owners of all the properties that are for sale, located in the Guia area, in Albufeira. The British musician no longer has any infrastructure, although he still maintains a connection to the wine production business, through a 50/50 partnership with his fellow countryman Nigel, who has long settled in the Algarve.
A Fine and Country real estate, a multinational specialized in luxury properties, is the exclusive agent of mediation of a potential transaction, which goes far beyond the “simple” sale of a property. It is about "acquiring, too, a business, which is very profitable", according to Zoe Hawker, responsible for the Carvoeiro branch of the real estate agency.
“Mr. Nigel Birch's idea is to sell the properties, but also the entire business, to someone who ensures that he keeps all the jobs,” revealed the real estate agent.
This is one of the best known wineries in the Algarve, largely because of the notoriety lent to it by Cliff Richard, but also for the many awards that its wines, Vida Nova and Onda Nova, have received over the years. Every year, around XNUMX bottles of wine are produced there, most of which are “sold to Denmark”, a country that is a strong importer of the references of this Algarve winemaker.
With the wine business, the eventual buyer also gains three luxury villas, one of which, Quinta do Miradouro (within which the cellar is installed), with four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a “spacious” dining room, in addition to a swimming pool and a leisure area outside, where there is no lack of a tennis court. There are also, on this farm, two structures for residential tourism. The business includes two other properties, located next to the larger one, with a house and vineyard.
Despite the intention to sell, the Birch family has not neglected the wine production business, which remains in full swing, as Sul Informação testified, this week, in a visit he made to Adega do Cantor, as part of a press tour organized by the Algarve Wine Commission and the Lagoa Council.
New products are even being launched, namely a white sparkling wine, in addition to continuing to invest in innovation in the wine production process.
Nigel Birch's desire to sell Adega do Cantor and related properties is not linked to the business itself, which Zoie Hawker assures is “very interesting”, but rather to the fact that “he is not getting any younger and wants to pass on his testimony. to someone who can be more dedicated to the business».
And, guarantees Fine and Country, the possibility of a future buyer reaching an agreement with Sir Cliff Richard, to maintain Adega do Cantor's connection to the musician who inspired its designation, since his passion for wine and for his production, which led him to invest in the Algarve, he is well known.
