The steep hills and risky jumps of the Pista do Arimbo, in São Brás de Alportel, once again put the daring and skill of more than 250 mountain bikers to the test, including top athletes in the sport, who will participate in the 1st stage of the Portugal Downhill Cup, which starts tomorrow and ends on Sunday in that Algarve county. This year, this race will also count towards the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Ranking.
This Friday, there are free training sessions, with the greatest emotions being reserved for Sunday. On the 6th, at 11 am, the qualifying round will take place. The final goes out on the road at 14 pm and the awards ceremony and the winners' climb to the podium is scheduled for 16:30 pm.
According to the City Council of São Brás de Alportel, cyclists, "among which there are several riders in the Top 20 worldwide", will face "a risky route", which promises to raise the adrenaline not only of the athletes, but also of the assistance. , who will be able to watch authentic practitioners' flights.
Over the three days of competition, the public will be able to see pilots of various nationalities flying, including the winner of the World Cup and the world champion in the junior category.
