The Spanish Edgar Carballo González (Vadebicis-Mondraker) won today, in São Brás de Alportel, the first scoring race for the Cyclin'Portugal Downhill Cup (DHI).

The Spanish runner, who did not go beyond the 9th position in the qualifying relegation, surprised all the competition in the final, going down to victory with a record of 2m23,137s. The podium was completed with two Brits, Sam Dale, second, at 1,237 seconds, and Josh Bryceland (Santa Cruz Syndicate), third, at 2,154s.

This Sunday's race had a high level participation, coming from several countries. In the top 10 of the male elite there are six nationalities represented, in what is a practical example of the objectives of the Cyclin'Portugal program: to attract cyclists from different origins, from various aspects of the sport, to the country. The best Portuguese was Emanuel Pombo (Ciclo Madeira), ranked 6th, 3,269 seconds behind the winner.

In the women's sector, the victory fell to British Tahnee Seagrave (Transition FMD Racing), who ended with an advantage of 9,876 seconds over the Portuguese Filipa Peres (RG/Fafe Optical Center) and with 19,434 seconds over compatriot Lucy Drees, who followed on the podium.

The victory in juniors was also conquered by a runner from Great Britain, Charlie Hatton, while the best cadet was the Portuguese Cláudio Sousa (MS Racing Portugal).

The veterans include the triumphs of Rui Cabrita (Wildpack Algarve Racing), in masters 30, Rui Cruz (MCF/Xdream/Municipality of S. Brás), in masters 40, and José Salgueiro (MCF/Xdream/Municipality of S . Bras), in masters 50.
