Races on Friday_1Culture and sport will go hand in hand, in a new edition of «Corrida à Sexta», which will cover the trails that surround the village of Santo Estêvão, in Tavira, on 11 March.

The informal group of athletes, who get together every week to practice physical activity, allies with House of the People of Santo Estêvão (CPSE) to hold an event in which participants will be able to rest from the effort they have just made to the sound of the music of Domingos Caetano, from Íris.

The meeting point is the cultural space of the small village in Tavir, at 20 pm. Athletes will depart from Casa do Povo and will be able to choose between two courses, one of 8 kilometers, the other of 12, «which, in addition to being longer, is also, for the most enthusiastic, certainly the most challenging», according to the CPSE.

In the end there will be supply, liquid and solid, but also for the soul, provided by Domingos Caetano and his friends, which will act in the multipurpose space of the Tavirense association.

The Barrocal area that will host this edition of “Corridas à Sexta” is characterized “by limestone, reddish stony soils and compartmentalized by walls. These are, in some cases, covered with woods and traditional dryland orchards, with typically Mediterranean species such as fig, vine, carob, almond and olive trees. In this territory, grow orchids, rosemary, the dwarf palm and the executioner, and cultivate beans, grains and peas.

«Across dirt roads, footpaths and ditches, in the middle of early spring, where the authentic and characteristic aromas of the season await all those who like to exercise», added the CPSE.
