The vehicles, which were renovated and refitted recently, will be parked at the barracks of the Fire Department in Albufeira, Tavira, Aljezur and Lagoa.

Vehicles destined for the first two locations arrived today, while those that will go to the municipalities of Lagoa and Aljezur will be placed on 1 May, announced the Regional Health Administration (ARS) of the Algarve.

The arrival of these vehicles had already been announced by the president of ARS João Moura Reis, during the presentation of the Algarve Regional Health Plan, about two weeks ago.

«These ambulances were revised and completely reconditioned to replace those currently existing in these barracks and already in service for over 10 years, and this replacement process represents a significant effort by INEM, which, in conjunction with ARS Algarve, intends to sustain renew and reinforce the fleet of ambulances currently available in the Algarve region», revealed the ARS.

INEM's ambulances operate from 15 Medical Emergency Posts in the Algarve. "The emergency ambulances are operated by civil protection entities and agents and/or elements of the Integrated Medical Emergency System, (generally Fire Brigades) manned by elements belonging to the respective entities, with specific training in pre-medical emergency techniques. hospital, defined and certified by INEM», according to the ARS

In addition, there are, in the region, «three Emergency and Reanimation Medical Vehicles (VMER), based in Portimão, Albufeira and Faro, four Immediate Life Support (SIV) ambulances, based in Lagos, Loulé, Tavira and Vila Real de Santo António, five Medical Emergency Ambulances (AEM), based in Portimão, Faro, Olhão, Quarteira and Alcantarilha, a Pediatric Inter-Hospital Transport (TIP) ambulance and an INEM motorcycle, based in Faro and an INEM/ANPC helicopter, based at the Loulé Heliport».
