“Portugal is not for sale”, but it's almost there, and the “D-Day” of the deal has the Algarve as a backdrop. A family is not happy with the possibility of ceasing to be Portuguese and rebels against the sale of the country. The setting is fictitious and is the starting point for the new film by Algarve director André Badalo, which will premiere, by the end of the year, in several movie theaters across the country.

Maria Vieira, Dalila Carmo, São José Correia, Mariana Monteiro, Silvia Rizzo, António Capelo, Paulo Pires, Marina Mota, Simone de Oliveira, Pedro Granger or João Lagarto are part of the cast, which is not yet complete. Therefore, the producer Original Features is looking for Algarvian talent who want to be part of the film.

The director André Badalo advanced to the Sul Informação that the production company “looks for talent of all ages for high profile characters that will enter the film. We want people from the Algarve, from various areas. We want to show the diversity of pronunciations in the region».

The fact that the action of the film takes place in the Algarve will be very evident in the film, including the way the actors speak. «The actors who will play Algarve characters will speak “Algarvian”. For example, Dalila Carmo and São José Correia have already started the “internship”», he revealed.

The story goes through several locations, from Vila do Bispo to Tavira, but, regarding the argument, André Badalo cannot “reveal much”. He only adds that “it is a comedy, with a kind of language from the films of Woody Allen or Pedro Almodóvar. It tells the story of what is D-day, the day Portugal is going to be sold. It deals with the themes of unemployment, emigration, the crisis… and there is a family, with members from several generations, that faces and fights against this possibility of ceasing to be Portuguese».

All this in the Algarve. «It is the central point of the story, where all the characters live. It's as if the country started to be sold from the Algarve», said the director, who also wrote the script, together with Vera Casaca and João Raposo.

Filming of the film will start in the last week of February and will last until April, with “Portugal is not for sale” should premiere «on rentree, after the summer” and will be distributed in theaters by NOS Lusomundo.

Those interested in participating in the film should send an email with personal data, contacts and face photo to castingportugal is not for sale@gmail.com.
