APE2 Protocol (Custom)The Literature Grand Prix (Chronicle and Collection of Literary Dispersed) APE/CM Loulé will be launched, after the signing of a protocol, celebrated last week, between the Municipality of Loulé and the Portuguese Writers Association (APE).

The two institutions joined forces and instituted this Literary Grand Prize, in the specific area of the Chronicle and Collection of Literary Dispersed, which aims to be a national reference in the dissemination of literature and authors.

The award ceremony for this Grand Prix of Literature will take place every year, on Municipality Day in Loulé. The winning writer will receive a prize of 10 euros.

Within the scope of this initiative, it is also intended to promote in schools and/or cultural spaces in the Municipality of Loulé a program of initiatives with the awarded authors.

In 2014, the Municipality of Loulé signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Portuguese Association of Writers, which aimed at cooperation between the two entities in order to promote the dissemination of national literature and the Portuguese language and literature, through initiatives carried out in the county. In this sense, the creation of this Award meets these objectives.

The Portuguese Writers Association was created in 1973 and is part of its purposes to promote the internal and external dissemination of national literature, the defense of the Portuguese language and literature as heritage and promote cultural events and writers' meetings for socializing and discussion of subjects that interest them, and also take initiatives to encourage and enhance literary activity.

It is the most important organization representing Portuguese writers, and as such, it is an Honorary Member of the Ordem do Infante D. Henrique (1984), and an Honorary Member of the Ordem da Liberdade (1990).
