Reis Solidarity Dinner_2016The community of São Brás de Alportel joined efforts to provide a Solidarity Dinner of Twelfths for about two hundred people in the municipality who are going through a period of greater difficulties, last Friday.

Citizens, companies and other entities joined the City Council and the Parish Council of São Brás to "provide a decent meal and a very special moment of conviviality for some of the most needy families in the county", according to the City Council.

This solidarity event resulted from “a sum of wills”, since everything “is the result of volunteer work and generosity”.

On the one hand, there is the collaboration of the José Belchior Viegas School Group, “in making the space available and with the invaluable help of the kitchen team at Escola Basica EN 1 n.º1, responsible for preparing the entire menu”.

On the other hand, support came from a wide range of local companies, which offered all the foodstuffs needed to make this meal, “from vegetables to soup to meat, including sweets, coffee and everything else needed for a decent dinner'.

The local authority took the opportunity to leave a public thanks to the different benefactors, namely: Bafrutal, Camelo Cafés, Casa Reis, Mónica Guerra Sweets, Ti Marquinhas Sweets, Dofir – Fernanda Viegas Pastry, Gelgarve, São Brás Intermarché, Mercado Bakery, Bakery dos Almargens, Pinguinha e Bota Lda, Advertisements RV Lda, Talho Damásio and Talho Jorge.

There are also private contributions, namely from the couple Dirk and Gabi, "who once again offered on this occasion, on behalf of a cultural charitable group they represent, a generous donation of 500 euros, destined for the Municipal Emergency Social Fund" .

«This special dinner also has the special service of a vast group of technicians from the Social Services of the City Council, the Parish Council and the entire local social network, to which elements of the “São Brás Solidário” Volunteer Network are added , who is responsible for ensuring that nothing is missing from the table», added the City Council of São Brás de Alportel.

The 6th edition of the solidarity initiative also featured musical entertainment, by the Salvation Army Band, Charola dos Machados, Grupo da Amizade and musician Vítor Alves.
