MagiThe Reis Magos from the border town of Ayamonte (Spain) visit Vila Real de Santo António and Castro Marim, tomorrow, January 5th, marking the celebrations of the Three Kings Day, celebrated the following day.

The initiative is part of the activities of the Eurocity of Guadiana and the Christmas celebrations in VRSA and recreates the tradition of the “Cabalgata de Reyes”, a procession that attracts hundreds of people to the streets of Spanish cities and towns.

The activity starts in Castro Marim, with the arrival of the Reis Magos in Vila Real de Santo António at 11:30 am.

Through this partnership, the three locations share the culture and traditions that mark the identity of each of the border municipalities.

The visit also includes a procession through the streets of VRSA and Praça Marquês de Pombal, where the Aldeia de Natal is located. The tour will be accompanied by the VRSA Philharmonic Band and will end with the distribution of sweets and confetti for the younger ones.

At 14:30 pm, the Reis Magos departs from ferry to Ayamonte to start the traditional «cabalgata» at 15:00.

The Eurocity of Guadiana was created in January 2013 by the municipalities of Ayamonte and VRSA, but in May it was expanded with the entry of the Chamber of Castro Marim.

Sharing equipment, creating a joint tourist brand and holding common events on both sides of the border are its main objectives.
