The mayor of Odemira will be in the parish of Vale de Santiago tomorrow and Saturday. In these two days, the mayor will meet with the population, merchants and businessmen of the parish, in a visit integrated in the “Sentir Odemira” initiative.

According to the Municipality of Odemira, with this proximity policy program – which foresees the visit of José Alberto Guerreiro to all parishes in the municipality -, “the intention is to strengthen the contact between the municipal executive and the population, recording his ideas , concerns and needs. The initiative stems from one of the priority areas of the current executive, which involves increasing civic participation».

Tomorrow, January 29, at 10:30 am, a visit to the local businesses in Vale de Santiago is scheduled, followed by the mayor, then to the village of Fornalhas Velhas.

From 18:30 pm, at the Sociocultural Center of Vale de Santiago, there will be a meeting with businessmen and local entities, where “the discussion on matters of interest to the parish” will take place.

On Saturday, from 11:00 am, the visit will continue through the parish and, at 16:00 pm, there will be a meeting with businessmen and local entities, at the Social Center of Bicos.

According to the Municipality of Odemira, “the parish of Vale de Santiago currently has 1.042 inhabitants (2011 Census) and an area of ​​112,2 km2, located between the Sado river and the Campilhas stream, predominantly plain. The local economy is marked by agriculture, cattle raising, cork extraction and meat processing, and there is also the Litoral Alentejano slaughterhouse. It is one of the historical parishes of the municipality of Odemira, whose territory belonged to the Order of Santiago».
