Paulo Gonçalves (Honda) in the 2nd stage

The Portuguese driver Paulo Gonçalves, as well as his Honda teammates Joan Barreda Bort and Kevin Benevides, gave a show today at the 3rd stage of Dakar2016, which took place between Termas do Rio Hondo and Jujuy, in Argentina. The trio secured the first three places in the tirade, with Gonçalves achieving the 3rd best time of the day and the same position on the podium.

With this performance, the General is again commanded by the Spaniard Joan Barreda (Honda), while Paulo Gonçalves (Honda) rises to 4th place.

Ruben Faria (Husqvarna) was less fortunate, who yesterday finished 2nd and occupied the same position in General, leaving for the stage. The Algarve driver was today in 26th place in the race, having dropped six positions in the general classification, to 8th.

In the 3rd stage, Helder Rodrigues (Yamaha) was 26th (and is 15th in General), Mário Patrão (KTM) was 36th (33rd in General) and Pedro Bianchi Prata (Honda) was 55th (64th).

This was a day in which the El Niño meteorological phenomenon once again took its toll, forcing the organization to shorten the 3rd stage of the Dakar2016, which only started on CP1, ie 112,91 kilometers later than expected. As a result, this Tuesday's special is just under 200 kilometers in total.

In fact, due to bad weather conditions, the truck stage was stopped. The trucks are the last to leave for the specials and today, according to the organization, part of the trail has collapsed after CP2, making the route impractical for this category.

Tomorrow, the 6th of January, the 4th stage will start and finish in San Salvador de Jujuy, with a total of 629 kilometers, with a timed section of 429 kilometers. This, of course, if bad weather doesn't cause surprises again.
