A debriefing session on shale oil and gas exploration in the Algarve will take place at the Firefighters Hall of Vila do Bispo, on Wednesday, December 16, at 20:30, in an initiative of the «Stop Fracking Vila» Facebook group of the Bishop».
The session, open to all interested parties, will be attended by members of the Algarve Livre de Petróleo Platform and ASMAA.
The municipality of Vila do Bispo falls within the area of the “Aljezur” contract, which was granted to PortFuel, by the Algarve businessman Sousa Cintra, a company with whom the previous Government, through the National Entity for the Fuel Market (ENMC), signed oil concession, research, development and production contracts in the areas designated by Aljezur and Tavira.
On Thursday, the Municipality of Aljezur manifested, in a public note, its "frontal opposition" to the exploitation of hydrocarbons in the Algarve, especially in the territory of this county of Costa Vicentina, criticizing the lack of information about the entire process.
Also the Vila do Bispo Municipal Assembly had already condemned, in a motion presented by the Left Block and approved by a majority, the prospecting and possible exploitation of hydrocarbons at sea and on land, in the Algarve.
