The Activity Plan and Budget, in the amount of 6,9 million euros, was approved at the meeting of the general assembly held in the auditorium of RTA, in Faro.

«In 2016, RTA intends to continue implementing actions that allow the development and valorization of the region's tourism potential. Actions that essentially involve the requalification of the regional tourism offer and the enhancement of the product, by strengthening the promotion and dynamization of tourist entertainment», says Desidério Silva, president of the RTA's executive committee.

The area with the largest budget allocation is promotion and animation, with more than two million euros for actions such as participation in sector fairs in Portugal and Spain, familiarization visits by tourist agents and the press, support for direct air routes to Barcelona and Madrid, in partnership with airlines, roadshows and actions to publicize and promote the Mediterranean Diet.

«In promotional terms, we will be the guest destination on the Lisbon Tourism Exchange, where we will present our new stand. We will once again be present at FITUR, FEHISPOR and Mundo Abreu and we will once again organize the Incentivo Algarve, as a way to support and recognize the work of Portuguese and Spanish travel agents", says Desidério Silva, believing that "2016 will be the year of the Algarve ».

Also noteworthy is the Algarve Nature Week, which, after the success of the 1st edition, promises to bring even more activities and news in the 2016 edition, taking place between the 13th and 22nd of May, in the municipality of Loulé.
In terms of product restructuring, initiatives are planned to boost active tourism, in particular hiking and cycle tourism.

Another bet is digital marketing, through the development of new apps and a new portal, already in line with the new promotional image of the Algarve brand, which will begin to be developed in 2016.
Multimedia communication campaigns, dissemination and promotion of events, marketing actions and boosting the presence of the Algarve on social networks are some of the actions planned.

Finally, and within the scope of the 45th anniversary celebrations of the RTA, the awarding of Tourism Medals to people and entities that stood out in the promotion and dissemination of tourism in the Algarve was approved.
