Maritime PoliceNearly 130 kilos of hashish were seized in the last three days by the Maritime Police, after the drug washed ashore between Lagos and Sagres.

According to the Commander of the Port of Lagos, the maritime authority was informed by people of the packages of hash that were hitting the coast.

The drug, which was of "high purity", was contained in "four waterproof packages", which in the meantime were handed over to the Judiciary Police, the competent authority to investigate drug trafficking.

Commander Carvalho Pinto admitted that the fact that the hashish was well packed indicates that "it could have remained at sea for a relatively long period". However, he revealed, "so far there are no identified suspects."

Searches, by land and by sea, will continue in the coming days, involving agents of the Maritime Police.
