The Union of Parishes of Lagoa and Carvoeiro offered Christmas hampers to 145 families, to «provide a more dignified and pleasant Christmas to those who live in times of greater difficulty», according to the parish council of Lagos. The delivery took place in the days before Christmas and ended on the 23rd of December.
Families who were already flagged due to the financial difficulties they face were invited to collect this basket, which included various food items, such as 'olive oil, rice, pasta, cereals, milk, grain, cheese, crackers, among others, but also the inevitable cod for Christmas night».
“It is with great pleasure and joy that we deliver the baskets to these families, who we know are going through difficulties. And we know this, because we don't only support them at Christmas, because throughout the year we have been attentive and provided various types of help», according to Joaquim João, president of the Union of Parishes of Lagoa and Carvoeiro.
This is already a tradition of this parish council, «which in the last three years has developed this initiative that has contributed a lot to a more positive Christmas period for countless families».
