Gymnasts from Loulé win three medals at the World Championships in Denmark

AthletesGymnasts Mafalda Brás, Gonçalo Martins and Marco Laginha, the Association of Parents and Friends of Gymnastics of Loulé (APAGL), won three medals at the World Championship for Age Groups (CMGI), in the modalities of individual trampoline, double-mini trampoline, synchronized trampoline and tumbling, played from December 3rd to 6th, in Odense, Denmark.

On a female double-mini trampoline, Mafalda Brás became world champion in the 17-18 age group. With very secure series, the gymnast went to the final in 6th place, where, after confirming the success of her series, she won the title.

In the synchronized male trampoline modality, the APAGL athlete Gonçalo Martins was also crowned world champion in the 13-14 age bracket, accompanied by Ruben Tavares, from the Sines Gymnastics Academy.

After passing to the final in 6th position with a safe series, the two gymnasts performed a series of high quality, putting pressure on opponents who never achieved higher scores.

Gonçalo Martins also jumped in the individual trampoline and double-mini trampoline modalities, having qualified for the final in the latter and ranking in 7th place.

trampolineOn the other hand, in the men's double-mini trampoline modality, age 17-18, Marco Laginha hit his series passing to the final in 5th position. Keeping the success shown in qualifying, the gymnast shone by winning the silver medal and qualifying in 2nd place.

The same gymnast also jumped in the individual trampoline modality, not having qualified for the final.

Of the remaining APAGL gymnasts, and without any order, Luís Afonso, gymnast of the 17-18 age group, also participated in the individual trampoline, synchronized trampoline and double-mini trampoline disciplines, in which he was world champion in title; in female double-mini trampoline, age 15-16, gymnast Lilas Potting, not qualifying for the final; in the three types of trampoline, gymnast Joana Brás, with a high level of accuracy, despite not having qualified for the respective finals; Sofia Correia, in the modalities of individual trampoline and synchronized trampoline, age group 13-14 years, having failed to qualify for the final; and Débora Gonçalves who participated in the female individual trampoline modality, in the 15-16 age group, having not qualified for the final.

Coaches Pedro Fernandes and Marco Gonçalves, from APAGL, were summoned to the Portuguese representation in this world championship.
