Olhão is celebrating the last days of 2015 “in an unprecedented way” and will mark the entry into the new year with a party that the City Council will promote at Jardim Pescador Olhanense.
This public space was once the focal point of the municipality's Christmas celebrations and will continue to be a hub of animation until the 2nd of January.
It is in this place, where an entertainment area with two thousand square meters was installed, which has a giant tent of 500 square meters, that the New Year's Eve party will take place.
Until then, and after Christmas is celebrated, the space will not be “dormant”, since from yesterday, Saturday, until December 30th, a Snack Fair will be promoted, under the motto “Feeling the Flavors”. This event can be visited over the next few days, starting at 17 pm. Its objective, according to the Chamber of Olhão, is “to show and taste the best that the region has to offer gastronomically”.
On the 31st, the venue will be decorated to host the New Year's Eve party, which has Fábio Lagarto as the headliner and which includes a fireworks show at midnight. On January 2nd, a Saturday, there is more partying, with the music being in charge of DJ King Bizz.
In recent weeks, the entertainment space created by the Câmara de Olhão hosted local bands on Friday and Saturday nights, «in addition to shows, demonstrations and workshops by associations, schools, and many other entities in the municipality».
The New Year's Eve proposal for Olhão is one of the many in the Algarve. Also Albufeira, Tavira, Lagos, Portimão and Monte Gordo they will be betting heavily on this night and have residents and visitors celebrating the arrival of the year.
