The next Encounter of Ancient Music in Loulé – Francisco Rosado will be directed by Ana Figueiras. The interpreter and music teacher was chosen by the municipality to continue the legacy of Francisco Rosado, great mentor of this festival, who died in 2015.
This is an event that has been taking place since 1999, always under the direction of Francisco Rosado, who «from the first moment imprinted an unquestionable quality on the Encontros de Música Antiga in Loulé. a center of reference for soloists and groups who intend to disseminate repertoire between the Middle Ages and the end of the XNUMXth century”, according to Câmara de Loulé. "Currently, these Loulé Ancient Music Encounters are a European reference," he adds.
The festival takes place, year after year, in early autumn, combining concerts, masterclasses and conferences with specialists in Early Music. In its scope, names such as Rui Vieira Nery and Jordi Saval passed through Loulé.
The “unexpected” death of the main promoter of the Encontros led the Chamber to add his name to the festival's official name and look for someone to continue its 17-year work at home. The choice fell on Ana Figueiras, a former student of Francisco Rosado.

Ana Figueiras is a young woman from Loulé, was a student of Professor Francisco Rosado, studied Ancient Music, which gives us the guarantee of continuing to work to maintain the quality of the event and so that Loulé continues to be the destination of choice for many interpreters and scholars da Música Antiga”, according to the mayor of Loulé Vítor Aleixo.
According to the local authority, Ana Figueiras is a young woman from Loulé, who soon fell in love with the recorder and who started in the world of music at the Loulé Music School and the Regional Conservatory of Algarve Maria Campina, as a student of Professor Francisco Rosado.
He completed a degree in Ancient Music, Flute branch, at the Lisbon Superior School of Music, in the class of Professor Pedro Couto Soares. He finished his Master's studies in Ancient Music, Flute branch at Lemmensinstituut – Leuven (Belgium), under the guidance of professors Bart Spanhove and Bart Coen. In September 2015 he began his studies for a Masters in Music Education at ESML.
He performed in several European countries, namely in Belgium, with the Ancient Music group “Carnet de Cuisine”; in Holland, with the trio “Dulci Suono” together with flutists Bart Spanhove and Tom Beets; in Italy and Austria as a member of the international flute consort “Il fiati del Collegium Pro Musica” playing with flutists Stefano Bagliano and Lorenzo Cavasanti.
She is also Music Director of the Ao Luar Teatro theater company, where she performs musical productions and interpretation. As a teacher, she teaches Flute Flute and Musical Training at the Loulé Music Conservatory.
