Jornal de Monchique will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a debate entitled “Regional Press: contributions to citizenship”. The roundtable is scheduled for this Saturday, at the Crédito Agrícola's main room, at 15:30 pm.
The Cultural Dynamization Group “O Monchiqueiro” intends, «with this action, to mark the 30th anniversary of the publication of the Jornal de Monchique» which intended to «contribute to increasing the literacy of the population that would serve, defend and promote local heritage in its various aspects and to encourage the critical sense of people subjugated by the obscurantism of the dictatorship that the country had just left».
The roundtable has guest speakers Mónica Dias, from the Institute of Political Studies of the Catholic University of Portugal, who will speak on “Social communication and freedom”, Paulo Martins, from the Superior Institute of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Lisbon, who will address the theme “Ethics does not know geography” and Vítor Reia Baptista, from the Superior School of Education and Communication of the University of Algarve, who will lecture on “Contributions of regional media for a
Deep Media Literacy and Active Citizenship”.
