Partridge Fair in Martinlongo promotes hunting resources in Alcoutim

These are the main ingredients of another edition of Feira da Perdiz, scheduled for the 7th and 8th of November, in Martinlongo.

The event, which is intended to «promote the extraordinary hunting conditions in the municipality of Alcoutim», is organized by the Alcouteneja City Council and the ADECMAR Association, with free entry.

In the fairground, in the Municipal Sports Pavilion, more than fifty companies and associations of the sector will be present, and there will also be taverns, where it will be possible to taste various typical dishes of the region's gastronomy at this time of year, with emphasis on the dishes à hunting base.

Before the official opening of the VIII Feira da Perdiz, scheduled for Saturday at 10:00 am, the Portuguese Cup of Practical Hunting will start outside the fair grounds, at 07:00, a rabbit hunt, scheduled for 08:00, and a tour by mountain bike, with departure scheduled for 09:00 am, next to the Municipal Pavilion.

The Portuguese Cup of Practical Hunting, organized jointly with the Portuguese Kennel Club, will take place over the two days of the event, in the Associative Hunting Zone of Castelhanos e Laborato and in the Hunting Zone of the Association of Caçadores de Medronhais. The rabbit hunt will take place in the Pereiro Tourist Hunting Zone.

partridge fairThe program of the event also includes musical entertainment, which, on Saturday, will be in charge of the group “Marafona”, with a show scheduled for 21:00 pm, and, on Sunday, will feature the performance of “Moda Mãe” at 18:30 pm. The group “Al-Fanfares” will be responsible for street entertainment, over the two days of the fair.

With a diversified program, the event also has space for debate with the holding, starting at 11:30 am on Saturday, of two colloquia on the themes "Support for the Forest and hunting under the PDR 2020" and "Evolution of the Hunting Order of the Algarve and in the Municipality of Alcoutim”, in charge of the Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Algarve and the Federation of Hunters of the Algarve, respectively.

Another highlight was the presentation, at 20:00 on Saturday, of the autumn edition of the Alcoutim Council Gastronomic Festival “Sabores da Serra ao Rio”, which will feature a gastronomic demonstration by Chef Nuno Diniz, from the Lisbon Hotel and Tourism School , and will mark the start of the festival.

With a biannual periodicity, the festival will run until December 8th, in thirteen restaurants in the county.
