The Blue Flag Association of Europe (ABAE) has opened registration for the 2016 edition of the international award “Green Key”, announced the Chamber of Olhão, adding that entrepreneurs from this – and other – counties can apply.
The "Green Key” is an international award present in 50 countries with 2.400 awarded establishments, constituting an environmental, voluntary, independent, non-governmental and non-profit program, integrating establishments that value Environmental Management and promote Environmental Education for Sustainability.
The program is recognized by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and UNESCO.
Applications are open until the 15th of December for Tourist Resorts, Camping Parks, Local Accommodation and Restaurants.
Interested establishments must formalize their applications on ABAE's online platform (www.abae.pt), in the area reserved for professionals.
The reduction in the environmental impact of activities and services, with the corresponding reduction in costs associated with the consumption of energy and water, contributing to the sustainability of the Planet, are factors taken into account in the attribution of this award.
