This morning, Lagoa Firefighters rescued a water dog, from the interior of an algar, about 10 meters high, on Senhora da Rocha beach, on the coast of that county.

According to the firefighters, "the animal, which was walking with its owners, got loose, having fallen into the hole." The warning was given by the distressed owners, a couple of resident foreigners.

The firefighters moved the rescue team to the scene at a wide angle, which proceeded to rescue the dog. "It was a sweet animal and was carried by a fireman and handed over to the owners", stresses the corporation on your facebook page.

The rescue team was made up of Chief Vítor Brito, 2nd class firefighters Celso Abreu, Cristiano Quaresma and Nelson Simões, and 3rd class firefighter Nelson Tostão. The operation was directed by deputy commander Nuno Barros.

An algar is a natural cavity, which, on the Algarve coast, develops in limestone rocks due to erosion, opening a kind of chimney that sometimes communicates with the sea, with caves at the base of the cliffs.
