A full-size holographic projection of the human figure, which allows interaction with the public, is the new technology that emerged from the research and technological development consortium established between the University of Algarve and SPIC Creative Solutions.
According to UAlg, «this project consists in the projection of a video, in high definition, which allows the visualization of a hologram of a real human character, in a live scenario or inside a closed structure».
The character can be a receptionist or a public relations person for a company or an event and “may dynamically interact in information functions requested by the user, serving as a guiding guide and a source of useful information”.
The hologram was developed at 360 degrees which allows users to see the character from any angle.
The University of Algarve also explains that «the product can be equipped with volumetric sensors to detect the movements of users and internet connection, allowing interaction by tablet or smartphone. Another important aspect is the possibility of making virtual presences (teleconferences) in real time».
This partnership between UAlg and SPIC «has as its main objective to develop synergies between both entities, creating a structure that complements knowledge, experience and technical and human resources», concludes the Algarve Academy in a statement.
