Portuguese international footballer Cláudia Neto, born in Lagos, is nominated by the Swedish Football Federation for the Best Midfielder of the Year award. The winners will be announced on 9 November.

Cláudia Neto is one of three candidates for Sweden's Best Midfielder of the Year, an award that will be presented at the Swedish federation's annual Football Gala, scheduled for November 9, at the Ericsson Globe Pavilion in Stockholm.

The Algarve athlete was chosen by an elite Swedish jury, which includes team captains, Olympic coaches such as Sweden coach Pia Sundhage and 32 sports journalists.

The nomination was made based on clear criteria: the technical ability of the midfielders, the influence on their teams, the evolution in terms of performance, teamwork and also the 'fairplay'.
In addition to the active midfielders in the Swedish women's championships, the Swedish players who play in foreign championships were evaluated.

This is the first appointment of Cláudia Neto, who won two Swedish Cups with Linköpings and fought almost until the last round for the Swedish title.

According to the Portuguese Football Federation, the 27-year-old player is in Guimarães preparing the first qualifying meeting of the Portuguese women's team for the European Championship Netherlands 2017. The game, against Ireland, is scheduled for the October 27, at 15 pm, in Moreira de Cónegos.

Expected at the Swedish federation's Football Gala, the player will sit on 9 November among several well-known names in international football, such as Sweden's Ibrahimovic, nominated for Best Striker of the Year.
