Aline Nève ExhibitionThe exhibition “Apropos da Rocha da Pena”, by Aline Nève, will be on display at the Cândido Guerreiro and Condes de Alte Museum Center, in Alte, from October 24th to December 31st.

In this exhibition, the Belgian artist based in the Algarve seeks to paint a portrait of this Classified Site in the municipality of Loulé, a place that captivated her and where she moved after leaving her homeland 27 years ago.

“Here I show some aspects of daily life, discoveries and encounters that I have been lucky enough to have lived through”, illustrated Aline Nève.

The exhibition opens on October 24th, at 16 pm, and can be visited from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 17 pm. Admission is free.

Synopsis:

«People live in Rocha da Pena: most were born here, others came from other places in Portugal, France, Holland, Spain, Belgium. Others are passing through, hiking friends, nature scholars, tourists, sports enthusiasts.

There are large wild animals such as wild boar, griffins, eagles, badgers, foxes, smaller ones such as hedgehogs, weasels, martens, genets, hares, rats, birds, snakes, cicadas, ants, crickets, butterflies, praying mantis, damselflies , bees, wasps, beetles, horseflies, flies and mosquitoes, spiders, frogs, toads, salamanders, snails, bats… and in addition to these, many others passed by, which in the meantime disappeared – fossils remained.

Others joined the men: oxen, horses, mules, donkeys, dogs and cats.

There are huge and magnificent plants such as holm oak, cork oak and stone pine, others more modest, rockrose, gorse, rudia, fennel, bee-grass, albardeira rose, thistle, rosemary, lavender , thyme and with man came many others… there are places that change: houses, mills, ditches, daughter-in-laws (there go the buckets), paths, bread and lime ovens, pigsties and chicken coops.

We are a part of this diversity”.
