Creative Loulé Logo2Twelve Scottish and Portuguese artists and artisans will spend twelve days together to create a meal. It seems like a long time, but it's not just about food that we're talking about: the table, the cutlery, the plates, the glasses, the menu… everything will be done by the residents of “Makers' Meal – Mesa de Partilhas”. The initiative takes place in Loulé between 12 and 23 October.

This collective creative residency aims, according to Loulé, to «develop a process of sharing disciplines, knowledge, resources and cultures. The intention is to provoke a synergy of discourses and practices about community, bringing them to the contemporary space, where art, crafts and culture converge. A table that reflects in practice the sense of collective action and the sharing of resources as a path to a more sustainable future».

The “Makers' Meal” Residence was designed by the Scottish artistic organization SSW – Scottish Sculpture Workshop – and will be in Loulé, «giving the “doers” the opportunity to create a table rooted in Barrocal traditions and inspired by the coexistence of cultures”.

The initiative is carried out within the scope of “Loulé Criativo” and inaugurates the aspect of creative residencies of this project, which «intends to take actions that have the land as a force and source of creation, as a reason for the crossing and dialogue between disciplines, and for meeting people».

Over these twelve days, there will be sessions open to the public, where it will be possible to monitor the development of the work and participate in conversations on issues related to heritage, culture, art and sustainability.

On October 23, the last day of the residency, the public is invited to watch the result of the work, materialized on the table that will be on display at Casa do Castelo (Largo D. Pedro I), in Loulé.

The initiative is from the Municipality of Loulé and the organization is in charge of SSW – Scottish Sculpture Workshop and Proactivetur/Projecto TASA.
