AdP Scholarship Group 2015The Águas de Portugal (AdP) group awarded 35 scholarships to children of employees of its companies who attend Higher Education and Special Education. The initiative, launched in 2013, is part of the corporate corporate responsibility program and involves all AdP Group workers who help to raise funds by sending electronic Christmas cards.

The aim of the AdP group is "to support the development and learning of workers' children and promote a sense of solidarity between companies and employees who, by sending electronic Christmas cards, promote the raising of funds for scholarships" , revealed to Águas do Algarve, a company belonging to this group.

Started in 2013, the AdP Group's corporate study grants program has already supported the study of employees' children with 50 higher education grants and 29 special education grants, for a total amount of 79 thousand euros raised.

«The innovative side of this project is the fact that the funds raised for the attribution of scholarships originate from the solidarity between companies and colleagues, since they are directly dependent on the number of electronic sendings of Christmas cards. For each postcard sent, a donation of 0,50 euros is associated to support projects and causes like this one», revealed Fátima Borges, Director of Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility of the AdP Group.

«Companies, while fulfilling their mission and promoting the excellence, rigor and professionalism of their employees, must also be a space for understanding and mutual help, and initiatives like this make this feeling a reality in the AdP Group », said the president of the group Afonso Lobato de Faria, at the award ceremony, which took place in Lisbon, this Tuesday.

The AdP – Águas de Portugal Group is the main Portuguese business group operating in the fields of water supply and wastewater treatment. With an extensive presence in mainland Portugal, from North to South, it provides services to around 80% of the Portuguese population and employs 3180 people.
