The 15th edition of mammarathon is scheduled for October 11th, departing at 10:00 am, next to the Old Fish auction of the Zona Ribeirinha de Portimão.
“Corrida/March against cancer” is an organization of the Oncological Association of the Algarve, in partnership with the Municipality of Portimão, since 2005, and the Athletics Association of the Algarve (AAA).
Considered the largest solidarity initiative held in the south of the country, the event is scheduled for 8:30 am, in order to allow participants to enjoy the different screenings at their disposal, as well as the important warm-up exercises.
Participants can opt for an 8-kilometer March/Race (AOA) or for the mini or half mammarathons, 10 and 21 kilometers respectively, from the Algarve Athletics Association (AAA).
The initiative's main objectives are to alert the population to the problem of Cancer, in particular breast cancer, to raise awareness of the practice of a healthy lifestyle and to raise funds for the project, Casa Flor das Dunas, a temporary residence for cancer patients , who is undergoing treatment at the Radiotherapy Unit of the Algarve, a work of the AOA.
Pre-registration for the March/Run takes place from October 1st to 10th, at the following locations and times:
FARO:
AOA Headquarters – 1st and 2nd and 5th to 9th October: 10:00 am – 12:30 pm | 14:30 pm – 18:30 pm (KIT pick-up location)
Forum Algarve: 3rd and 10th October: 10:00-19:00
PORTIMÃO:
Building of the Old Auction in the Ribeirinha Zone – 1st to 3rd and from 5th to 10th October: 10:00 am – 20:00 pm (place to collect the kit)
Continente de Portimão Shopping Center – October 5th to 9th: 15 pm – 00 pm
Barlavento Algarvio Hospital Center – October 5th to 9th: 09:30 am – 17 pm
Pre-registration costs 7 euros for adults and 4 euros for children up to 12 years old (non-refundable), including a kit consisting of a technical t-shirt and promotional items. Registration on the day of the event will be increased by 1 euro.
