jazzThe Algarve Jazz Orchestra will promote next Friday, September 25th, at 17:30 pm, in the Sala Polivalente of the Municipal Auditorium of Lagoa, a conference presented by saxophonist David Paz, on the theme “The Saxophone and Modern Jazz”.

David Paz began his studies as a clarinetist at the Conservatory of Professional Music in A Coruña and became interested in traditional Galician music.

He had his first contact with modern music with the saxophonist Carlos Averhoff Jr, son of the mythical saxophonist of the Cuban band Irakere, and with him he began to study saxophone and modern harmony.

His training as a saxophonist went through the Orquestra Los Trovadores (tenor saxophone), for a few years, and the Orquestra Los Satellites (tenor and baritone saxophone). Later, he collaborated with several groups such as Jose Somoza Big Band, Celanova's Big Band, Ardebullo Big Band, among others.

He assumed the position of musical director in a television program “Tourilandia”, where many international artists pass by.

Currently resides in Faro, collaborates with the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve and is part of other local formations.

Also on Fridays, but at 21 pm, in the Foyer of the Auditório Municipal de Lagoa, there will be a Jam Session with teachers and students from EJMMA – Algarve School of Jazz and Modern Music, to which everyone is invited to participate.
