In a note sent to the newsrooms, the municipality lamented the disappearance of the music teacher, who was the main driver of the Loulé Ancient Music Meeting, recalling the service he provided to Loulé culture.

According to the Loulé municipal executive, Francisco Rosado was «a man who played a preponderant role in the cultural dynamism of our municipality, in the area of ​​music, particularly early music, as he was responsible for the creation of the Loulé Ancient Music Meeting, an event that has been in existence for nearly two decades and has become a reference in the country's cultural events program».

«Francisco Rosado was also an exemplary pedagogue, having been responsible for the training of many young people in our municipality who embarked on higher studies and a career in this area. It is also important to highlight the international recognition achieved by this unique figure in our cultural life, a status that was given to him by his dedication and commitment to the artistic direction of the Ancient Music Meeting of Loulé», add the municipal officials.

 

About Francisco Rosado:

"Natural from Faro (June 20, 1951), it was in this city that he studied up to secondary school. Opponent of Salazar's regime, he left for Paris, obtaining the status of political exile from the UN. A year after the Carnation Revolution, in 1975, he returned to his homeland to continue his studies in the area of ​​music. He studied recorder with Catarina Latino and Pedro Couto Soares, having participated in several master classes promoted by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

It was in the teaching and promotion of ancient music that he assumed great prominence in the Algarve, namely in Faro and Loulé. He was one of the founders of the Conservatory's Early Music Group and constituted the Consort of Flutes of the Regional Conservatory of Algarve Maria Campina.

Francisco Rosado has also been involved in the programming of the Encontros de Música Antiga in Loulé since 1999, having been their great mentor and artistic director during all editions. He founded the Flute Ensemble of the Loulé Musical Expression Center, a grouping with several recorded CDs.

He taught Flute and Ensemble Class at the Regional Conservatory of Algarve Maria Campina, having positively influenced several dozen students throughout his professional career. He was also a professor at the Center for Musical Expression of Loulé and, recently, at the Conservatório de Música de Loulé».
