The Algarve businesswoman Manuela Sabino, responsible for the Amour Gourmet company, has just launched the first chocolate to flavor the gin.
In these times when the old lady Geneva is back as a fad in the beverage world, the Gourmet Love, which is dedicated, among other things, to producing chocolates with original flavors, decided to bet on this market as well.
Manuela Sabino explained to Sul Informação that, after having had the idea of launching one of their chocolates specially designed to accompany the gin, «I invited the South Gin, German producer with Algarve soul and flavours, for the creation of the first chocolate to accompany gin». The result, he guarantees, is “a perfect marriage of flavors and aromas”.
After presenting the idea to Gin Sul and Nelson Agapito, the businesswoman took a few months to “make experiments mixing chocolate with herbs present in the gin of this Algarve brand. I did four tests, used various herbs and flavors, to see what worked best, and ended up with coriander seeds and lemon aroma».
And thus came the new chocolate «Taste Eat Drink», an English name that sums up what you can do: taste, eat and even drink. It is thus a dark chocolate with spices that enhance the flavor of the gin.
Manuela Sabino guarantees that this is the first time that, at least in Portugal, “a chocolate to be used in gin” has been created. "There is snacks to accompany the gin, but this chocolate is special, as it is intended to be eaten/drinked with the gin», he adds. To do this, "just grate it, and then the chocolate and gin will wrap around and give it an original flavor and texture." Anyone who doesn't like gin or isn't open to this “gin with everything” fashion can also simply eat chocolate…
The new product was launched on August 15, in Odeceixe, in a partnership between Amour Gourmet and Gin Sul, at a party at the bar Agapito Kiosk. More recently, it was featured in Columbus BarOn Faro. Chocolate intended to enhance the flavor of the gin can already be bought in these two places.
And, from this month of September, it will also be on sale in other places, from Faro, Albufeira, Porto, Coimbra and Lisbon, namely in the supermarkets Apolónia and Casual Foods.
The Algarve brand Amour Gourmet was born at the end of 2010, combining the flavor of artisan production with the design of the the packaging, from the packaging. The brand started with a portfolio of homemade liqueurs, handmade bonbons and roasted almonds covered in dark chocolate.
At Christmas 2013 launched the first edition of Love Project by gourmet amour, a new concept within the brand, which works in partnership with other regional products.
In partnership with salmarim, the first edition of LoveProject, that celebrated the rebelliousness of dark chocolate with salt flower.
In 2015, Amour Gourmet launched three canned sardines from the Algarve. Olive oil, olive oil and lemon and marinated are the flavors that can be found inside packages trendy with illustrations that tell the female story of the work of the Algarve canneries.
