The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces (CEMGFA), General Artur Pina Monteiro, accompanied by the Military Chiefs of the Armed Forces and the Member States of the 5+5 Defense Initiative, or their representatives, chairs the Distinguished Visitors Day (DVD) of Exercise SEABORDER 2015, which takes place tomorrow, 1st of October, off Portimão, on board the NRP Figueira da Foz.

Participating in Exercise SEABORDER 15, naval and air resources from Spain, France, Italy, Morocco, Portugal and Tunisia.

The military exercises of the SEABORDER series appear within the framework of the 5+5 Defense Initiative, with the objective of developing cooperation between member countries and are conducted in a joint and combined environment, in order to exercise the planning and conduct of Maritime Security Operations, interoperability between Maritime Operations Centres, as a contribution to the exercise of Authority at Sea in an international environment.

The 5+5 Defense Initiative includes Algeria, Spain, France, Italy, Libya, Malta, Morocco, Mauritania, Portugal and Tunisia.
