view areaCMRSSeptember arrived and the Government did not launch the international public tender to define the new management model for the Center for Medicine and Rehabilitation of the South, contrary to what had been ensured by the Regional Health Administration of the Algarve (ARSA).

The mayor of São Brás de Alportel Vítor Guerreiro did not forget the promise made to him by the member of the Board of Directors of ARSA Nuno Ramos on the 10th of August and demands "a speedy solution for the well-being of citizens".

The guarantee that the public tender for the management of this health unit would be launched before the end of August was given during a meeting that the director of ARS do Algarve held with São Brasense mayor Vítor Guerreiro and AMAL president Jorge Botelho , and repeated to journalists, on the sidelines of the meeting.

At the time, Nuno Ramos assured that the contest would be launched 'within weeks, surely before the end of the month'.

"Unfortunately, the City Council confirms that, to date, the competition has not progressed and the centre, a unit of excellence with international recognition, continues to face the same problems and difficulties, without prospects or guarantees of a viable solution in the near future." illustrated, in a press release, the Chamber of São Brás de Alportel.

«We continue to be concerned about the current operating conditions of the Center for Medicine and Rehabilitation of the South, an extremely important structure for the county, for the region and for the country. It is essential to continue to ensure the provision of this differentiated health care to those who need it, and we believe that it is time for CMR Sul to be considered a priority for the central administration», considered Vítor Guerreiro.

Currently, the center is working at half capacity, with only half of the existing beds being made available, due to lack of staff.
