Loulé Council wants to create an Urban and Agricultural Park along the Cadoiço stream, on the city's southern slope. For now, the local authority will award the drafting of the project, and the estimated cost of the work is 480 thousand euros.
According to the municipality, the creation of the park intends to "requalify and consolidate the landscape in order to transform it into a place of public enjoyment directed towards urban functions of recreation, leisure, culture and sport" and the resumption and "stimulation of agricultural activity in a perspective of productive economy'.
The site, which is made up of private agricultural land, served by public paths and crossed by watercourses, «is developed into an amphitheater over a landscape of agricultural characteristics, with views of the coastline, with the backdrop of the north, the walled perimeter of the city», explains the Câmara de Loulé.
In the intervention area of the Park, «the vegetation and the built elements, of which the paths, the retaining walls and the irrigation systems stand out, still preserve the structure of the typical agricultural landscape of the Algarve Barrocal, at the gates of the built city» .
The municipality of Loulé also explains that "Memory, Heritage and Creation are the concepts underlying this intervention", which, among other benefits, will create "a road alternative that crosses the entire intervention area to facilitate faster access between the south west zone and the south eastern part of the city».
The work's priority intervention will be on public roads, which, according to the Chamber, will allow the Park to start taking shape in the territory.
The estimated area of intervention is 65000 m2, and the design of the project will cost 50 euros.
