According to Câmara de Castro Marim, «bringing drinking water to more than 50 mountain villages in the municipality of Castro Marim, where water is supplied through public fountains or boreholes from the inhabitants themselves, has been one of the main intentions of the Executive of the Municipal Council. of Castro Marim for this mandate».

Mayor Francisco Amaral admits, however, that "this is not the desired solution, which would depend on a hypothetical community funding, but it will finally bring drinking water to the homes of around 1000 people deprived of this right."

The autarchy also added that «the supply of domestic water to the village of Alta Mora is also being concluded, through the installation of 60 branches, a pumping station and a water treatment plant» and that «soon the Municipality of Castro Marim it will proceed with the interventions in Nora Velha, Nora Nova and Pereiras».

The works carried out within the scope of this contract for the supply of drinking water at home are carried out by direct administration, "which significantly reduces installation costs," according to the Chamber of Castro Marim.
