Monchique water works_1The company Águas do Algarve will invest close to 682 euros to connect the effluents from Monchique Norte to the Algarve's Multi-municipal Sanitation System.

The contract provides for the execution of civil construction works, as well as the supply and assembly of metalomechanical, electromechanical, electrical, automation and instrumentation equipment, a set of two domestic wastewater pumping stations, three gravity collectors and two and respective lift ducts .

Thus, this intervention includes the construction of the EE1 Pumping Station, to receive the effluents from Cruz dos Madeiros and Urban Park, as well as the EE2 Pumping Station, which will receive sewage from Cruz dos Madeiros, Urban Park, Urbanização de S. Roque and some existing houses in the Valley. Both will be equipped with a compact pumping well and the various equipment involved.

As for the gravity collectors, there will be three: the CG1, which will lead the domestic affluents from Cruz dos Madeiros and Parque Urbano to the lifting station (EE1) and respective conduit (CE1), in order to raise the domestic effluents produced in this basin to the urbanization of S. Roque. This section will be about 645 meters long, consisting of 200 mm diameter PVC tubing.

CG2 will be built along the Caminho do Vale, receiving most of the domestic effluents from the urbanization of S. Roque. This section will be about 656 meters long, with 200 mm diameter PVC piping.

Monchique water works_2Finally, the CG3, which will start at Rua Pé da Cruz, where the flows coming from the CE CE2 flow, extending along the EN266 and Estrada Velha. This section will be around 785 meters long, consisting of PVC tubing with a diameter of 315 millimeters.

There will also be two pumping ducts, CE1, starting at the EE1 pumping station, to be built northeast of Monchique, extending to the west and southwest, until the urbanization of S. Roque. This section will be about 918 meters long, and will consist of 125 mm diameter PVC pipe.

The CE2 will start at the EE2 pumping station, to be built in Caminho do Vale, moving south-west to Rua Pé da Cruz. This section will be about 325 meters long, and will consist of 140mm diameter PVC tubing.

«With this investment, the populations involved win and the environment wins», stresses the company Águas do Algarve, in a press release.

The contract, in the amount of 681.972,47 euros and with a term of 240 days, was signed on the 8th of July with the company Maja SA, and the assignment of the works took place on the 17th of August.
