little spotted_1The owner of the land where the parking lot of Praia do Pintadinho, in Ferragudo, has been installed for decades, cut off access to the park this morning by placing two huge blocks of stone.

A fence was also placed, with a sign saying: “Private Land – covered under article 1356 of the Civil Code”. This article stipulates that "at any time the owner may wall, ditch, surround his building with hedges, or cover it in any way".

Access to that bathing area, which has a blue flag and is classified as an “accessible beach”, can still be done, but only on foot, requiring a walk for about 500 meters.

To avoid traffic jams caused by cars entering the narrow access road to the now blocked parking lot, the Parish Council of Ferragudo was, this morning, forced to restrict traffic right next to the fork in the pier road.

Francisco Martins, president of the Chamber of Lagoa, told the Sul Informação that "the Legal Department is analyzing the situation, to give me an answer even today, so that we can decide accordingly".

At the origin of this situation, to what the our newspaper he learned, there is a long dispute between the owner of the land, a businessman from Portimão, and the Municipal Council of Lagoa. The mayor Francisco Martins only confirms this "long litigation", with cases "still in court" and demands for "compensation" by the owner of the land, but he did not want to go into further details.

"We know that the parking lot is private," admitted the mayor. “There was already a project to build a real car park there, but the owner demands a lot of money for that, millions even,” he said.

Luís Alberto added that, despite the confusing jurisdiction of the area in question, divided between the Captaincy, the Administration of the Ports of Sines and the Algarve, the Lagoa Council and even the GNR (with regard to transit), they had already been there. , this morning, inspectors from the municipality, Maritime Police agents and APS technicians.

The Ferragudense mayor pointed out that the parking fence, which forced the access road to the beach to be cut, affects "people who want to come to Pintadinho, but also the restaurant that operates on the beach."

"It is also strange that an accessible beach with a blue flag can now be blocked in the middle of August," he added.

Despite the stone blocks and the fence, as can be seen in the image, there are motorists who insist on parking on the land, although access conditions are very poor and there may be damage to the vehicles.
