Pedro Passos Coelho, president of the PSD, yesterday defended the need for “a politically unequivocal result” in the next Legislative Elections, dramatizing the importance of government stability.
Claiming to address "all Portuguese" and not just the Social Democrats and independents close to the parties of the PSD/CDS coalition, Passos Coelho added that he wanted "a result that will allow us to govern to solve people's problems and not go looking for on how to solve the Government's problems».
This is because, said the orange leader in his speech at the Festa do Pontal, in Quarteira, "if the result is not unequivocal, the next Government will certainly be a Government full of problems and that would be an additional problem for the Portuguese." .
This Festa do Pontal marked a debut: the presence of the leader of the CDS side by side with that of the PSD.
Paulo Portas, for his part, said that the campaign of the Portugal à Frente coalition, which brings together the two parties currently in government, "will not turn the Portuguese against each other."
This was a response to António Costa and the PS, whom Portas accused of threatening stability in the country: "whoever wants to be prime minister does not divide the Portuguese between us and them."
