Msc zoeThe «MSC Zoe», the largest container ship in the world, will dock at the Port of Sines on the 11th of August. Twin brother of “MSC Oscar” and “MSC Oliver”, with a capacity of 19 220 TEU, he was baptized this month in Hamburg and is received in the Port of Sines for the first time.

With a length of 395,4 meters and a beam of 59 meters, the «MSC Zoe» is the third vessel of the six that will be part of the “Class Oscar” of MSC.

After being baptized in the port of Hamburg, the freighter immediately set sail for Antwerp, Belgium, as part of MSC's SWAN service, between Asia and Northern Europe.

Usually, MSC container ships are named after the female names of relatives of MSC employees. To date, there have been only five exceptions: MSC Aniello, MSC Don Giovanni, MSC Diego, MSC Oscar and MSC Oliver.

This new generation of MSC container ship has been named after the new generation of the family, grandchildren of the founder, Gianluigi Aponte, with Zoe being one of the granddaughters.

The “MSC ZOE”, “MSC OSCAR” and “MSC OLIVER” are ships of the same class, carrying more containers than any other ship, being also more environmentally friendly and fuel efficient.
