This is an initiative of the Municipal Museum of Archeology, which has the support of the Clube de Astronomia de Albufeira and the Robin Hood animation group. To participate, just show up at the venue, between 20:30 pm and 23:30 pm.

The Perseid meteor shower – named for the fact that meteors appear in the northeast, near the constellation Perseus – is a phenomenon that happens every year in August, when the earth passes in the wake of comet Swift-Tuttle.

The ancient Castle of Paderne, located in the interior of the Algarve, far from the city lights, was the place chosen by the Municipality of Albufeira to observe the sky with a telescope.

The program also includes a theatrical animation on the theme “Cadian Tales” by the Robin Hood Group, in the Ermida area.

The event has the support of the newly created Clube de Astronomia de Albufeira, led by the couple Vita Mala and Oleh Malyi who, in addition to their great passion for astronomy, are part of the ESO team (European Southern Observatory).

The Club owns two telescopes that allow observing the night sky, the moon, stars and planets, which reveal the mysteries of the Universe.

The Robin Hood group joined the initiative to complete the night's magic with stories and play with words that will help us to better understand the universe around us. Founded in 2014, when it won the national contest of ideas “Mudar: change your world”, promoted by Programa Escolhas, A Torke+CC and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Robin Hood is a group of young people who develop animation actions, such as way of obtaining income, which are destined for social intervention projects.
