Pedro Soares dos Santos_2Alisuper stores in Caliços (Albufeira), Quinta do Lago and Vale de Lobo are going to be transferred to the Pingo Doce supermarket chain, via transfer.

In addition to Pingo Doce, also Intermarché started to control Alisuper stores in the Algarve, through the purchase, in a deal announced last May, but which has already undergone changes.

Diário Económico, citing an official source for the brand, said that, as part of the expansion plan planned for the chain, “Pingo Doce took it for granted and took over the lease of three stores in the Algarve – Caliços (Albufeira), Quinta do Lago and Vale de Lobo – previously operated by the Alisuper chain”.

At this time, "the stores are closed for adaptations" and "will open to the public, under the Pingo Doce insignia, during the first half of July".

With these three stores, Pingo Doce, belonging to the Jerónimo Martins group, now operates 25 stores throughout the Algarve.
Speaking to Diário Económico, northern businessman José Nogueira, current owner of the Alisuper chain, confirms the deal with Pingo Doce and guarantees that, for now, he will keep the remaining 41 units under his purview.

“Now I'm thinking of expanding further to the North of the country and Lisbon to leave the South, which is very seasonal”, said the businessman. Regarding the recent news of the return of salaries in arrears to Alisuper, José Nogueira says that there are around 400 employees still connected to the group, whose salaries “are up to date”.

Competition Authority lead purchase of three stores by Intermarché

As regards purchase of nine other Alisuper stores, by Intermarché, of the Os Mosqueteiros group, the DE adds that the Competition Authority (AdC) authorized the acquisition of seven “only outside the commercial spaces located in Rogil and Sagres, whose acquisition would put Intermarché at a competitive advantage”.

Carlos Almeida, administrator of the Os Mosqueteiros insignia, said that Intermarché “will accept the opinion, denying, from now on, any intention to appeal the decision”.

This will reduce the volume of investment foreseen by Intermarché in the new stores in the Algarve, which was, when the deal was announced, in May, of five million euros.
