The first night of the Alameda Beer Fest was a success: thousands of people visited the centenary Jardim da Alameda, in Faro, to taste some of the 140 varieties of craft beer available. And there were those who regretted that it was not even possible, in three days, to taste all those 140 beers…but there were those who tried.

Through the garden streets, people circulated with glass in hand (the glass, essential to buy beer, costs 2,5 euros), while Funkarmónica livened up with its contagious rhythms. Filling the glasses costs between 2 and 3 euros, depending on the craft beer chosen. And there really is a lot to choose from.

At the top of the chances are the only two brands of craft beer in the Algarve: the Moura and marfada.

To eat, there are snacks for all tastes – from seafood from the Ria Formosa, fried cuttlefish strips, to hamburgers, kebabs, skewered pork sandwiches, chorizo, and many other options. There are also natural juices and ice creams. There is a common denominator: prices are somewhat high.

All this has to be purchased with vouchers, which can be purchased at various stalls along the Alameda Beer Fest, in the same place where the glasses are sold. But to buy tickets and cups, long lines formed, especially at the most central stalls. It was necessary for the organization to go to the longest lines to advise which places were the fastest, to help with dispatch.

So, here's a piece of advice for those who are only going to the Beer Fest today: when you buy the glass, buy enough vouchers for the food and beers right away, so that you don't have to go back to the queue.

In addition to beer and food, there are also handicrafts, showcookings and musical shows on two stages. In addition to the Funkarmónica performances in the streets of the garden.

This first edition of the Alameda Beer Fest had a special visitor: Alberto Mota Borges, the new director of the Airport of Faro, there are a few days in office. Accompanied by Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro, the new person responsible for the airport infrastructure praised the space and the party, of which the Airport is even a sponsor.
