The Ria Formosa Festival, which the shellfish gatherers and nurserymen from Faro they have been promoting it for 17 years, it has already started and will animate Largo de São Francisco, next to the city's Old Town, until the 9th of August. In 2015, there is the capacity to accommodate a lot more people than in previous years, with the venue having a total of around 10 seats at the table.

An increase in cargo capacity that was “required” by visitors, as the 2014 seats that were made available on the first day of the XNUMX Festival quickly proved insufficient. Vivmar – Association of Nurseries and Shellfish Producers of Ria Formosa, which organizes the event in partnership with the Chamber of Faro, even managed to increase the number of seats at the table to 7 thousand, in the last edition of the event, now betting on significantly increasing that number.

The space, this one, is the same as last year and follows the same logic: an enclosed space, with gates, but without charging entrance. What has changed is the organization of the different elements, with the stage changing location, and the type of tables used.

The influx of people, right on the first day, seemed to justify the organization's bet. The enclosure was inaugurated at 19 pm and, shortly thereafter, it began to fill up and soon filled up.

A membership that, for the president of the Chamber of Faro Rogério Bacalhau, is linked to the spirit of the Festival, where, in addition to not paying admission, it is possible to «eat well, at an affordable price».

"This is an authentic feast of the people, that's why we make a point of keeping the entrance free and that the dishes have a price that people can pay," said the president of Vivmar Vítor Lourenço. "This party ends sooner than it starts to charge admission", he assured.
