Eugénia Taveira was a teacher at Escola Secundária Tomás Cabreira, in Faro, having been leader, for many years, of the Union of Teachers of the South Zone. In 2007, she was elected a member of the National Council of Fenprof.

Eugenia Taveira she will be a deputy until the end of the legislature, which ends on July 30, and will also participate in the debate on the state of the nation, which takes place at the end of the month.

The former teacher, now retired, became the Algarve deputy of BE after the two names that followed Cecília Honório on the Left Block lists, João Vasconcelos and João Carlos Brandão, were temporarily unavailable to assume functions.

João Vasconcelos, professor, told the Sul Informação not having been able to take the place due to «due commitments as a teacher, at this important time at the end of the school year».

Cecília Honório, who was part of BE's parliamentary group for ten years, since 2005, left her place on the bench of the Assembly of the Republic a month before the end of the legislature, alleging “mostly professional” reasons, according to the online newspaper Observador.
