albufeira protocol_1On the 14th of July, the Municipality of Albufeira signed collaboration protocols with two cultural associations in the municipality, the Association of Friends of Albufeira and the Casa do Povo of Paderne, which translate into a financial investment of around 16 thousand euros.

Since 1997, Albufeira City Council has been in regular collaboration with the Association of Friends of Albufeira, first by providing the space necessary for the installation of the headquarters and the development of the institution's cultural activities, and later by enabling the operation of the delegation of Albufeira from the University of Algarve for the Third Age (UATI).

For the year 2015, the Municipality renewed the agreement that will allow that Association to pursue its social objectives, committing, under it, to develop the usual activities to support the Elderly, of which we highlight training in areas such as IT, English, German, Painting, Embroidery, Arraiolos, Music, Ceramics, among others, in addition to the organization of tours, music, dance, cultural, recreational and sporting initiatives, as well as study visits to places of historical interest and architectural.

At the end of each academic year, the works carried out by UATI students in the various subjects are presented in an exhibition that is open to the public in one of the city's Art Galleries.

The financial contribution awarded this year is 8250 euros, and the Association is obliged to carry out some musical shows for social associations, senior citizens' homes, Clube Avô and to liven up festivities in the municipality.

albufeira protocol_2The Casa do Povo of Paderne, a social, cultural and recreational association that welcomes the Group of Friends of Paderne, has once again seen recognition for the services provided to its members and the rest of the population.

The association received 7.500 euros, with a view to the development of its regular activities, pledging to collaborate in the organization of the “Paderne Medieval” event, a historical and ethnographic recreation that every year, after the New Year's Eve, gathers thousands visitors in what is one of the most typical villages in the region.
