The Algarve driver Miguel Praia returns to the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (AIA), next weekend, for the competition where he was present for many years. Praia will replace Kieran Clarke, from CIA Landlords Insurance Honda's, in the World Supersport (WSS), in the 7th round of the Eni Fim World Superbike Championship.

Miguel ran for the Parkalgar Team, twice world runner-up, between 2008 and 2012, having achieved his best result at Silverstone, in 2011, a 6th place. On June 7th, he will have his last race in World Championships.

Eager to say goodbye to his circuit and to the team he started in 2008, the Algarve rider reveals that “this race has a huge meaning as a rider, given the history with the team and the circuit, which had and lasted until 2012”.

“I've been running a few races recently on the Honda Fireblade so it won't be easy to compete in the WSS. I will do my best, however, the result is not the most important thing for us, the most important thing in this race will be its meaning. I expect a lot of Portuguese audience to celebrate my farewell together. It will be great to finish this cycle where it all started, on this fantastic circuit of ours and with the same team”, says Miguel Praia.

For Paulo Pinheiro, CEO of the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, it is “a joy to receive Miguel Praia in his last race on our circuit. This is going to be a very exciting day. We've already won here once in 2009, and in total there were 12 World Championship victories that we're very proud of!”

“We worked with Simon from 2008 to 2012 and we achieved great things in the past, he did a brilliant job! I have to thank Simon and Honda Portugal once again, namely, Carlos Cerqueira for this opportunity, waiting for a great weekend, with a lot of audience”, concludes Paulo Pinheiro.

Saddened by losing Kieran to the Portimão race, the CIA Landlords Insurance Honda's team reveals that they maintain a great feeling of friendship with Parkalgar. "It will be important for Miguel to finish his career with us at the WSS, at the circuit that started everything for Parkalgar, PTR and CIA Landlords Insurance Honda's."

The former driver of the Parkalgar team joins Gino Rea, Martin Cardenas and Riccardo Russo, in the seventh round of the World Supersport Championship, at Autodromo Internacional do Algarve, on 7 June.
