The fire that broke out yesterday in the Santana da Serra area, even leading to the cut of the IC1 road between Ourique and Aldeia de Palheiros, was subdued and extinguished during the night.
Yesterday, at the end of the afternoon, one of the two fronts of the fire was beginning to "give in to the means of combat". announced the National Civil Protection Authority on its website.
Land resources were reinforced, with the fire being fought by 254 operatives, supported by 86 vehicles.
The two planes and the light helicopter that had been activated almost since the start of the fire were withdrawn at nightfall.
In addition to local fire brigades and other areas of Alentejo, the theater of operations was reinforced by Strengthening Groups to Fight Forest Fires in Faro, Lisbon (two) and Évora.
The fire affected an extensive area of forest, between Santana da Serra and Portela do Lobo, having broken out at 13:13 pm.
