The Postcard Brass Band

The Postcard Brass Band is an eclectic, prejudice-free musical group that explores a variety of musical styles and languages, from traditional New Orleans jazz to spontaneous improvisation.

After a first album released at the end of 2007, well received and applauded by the specialized critics, “The Postcard Brass Band”, the group is back with a new album called “Pop&Roll”.

This new work is based on a selection of new arrangements of themes well known to the general public, as well as some originals from the band members, all of them with different dynamics and musical directions.

The sound of a new musical instrument conceived by Sérgio Carolino and built by the North American master builders Tim Sullivan and Harold Hartman contributed greatly to this new approach, an instrument named Lusophone (Lusophone) and later renamed Lucifer, due to to its overwhelming sound.

Mário Marques – tenor and soprano saxophone
Michel Lauren – drums
Sérgio Carolino – lusophone Lucifer
Ruben Santos – trombone

PATAX

Recognizing the importance and legacy of memorable groups such as Weather Report, Chick Corea Electric Band, Herbie Hancock, Zawinul Syndicate… and influenced by the jazz of Irakere, Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis, Hermeto Pascoal, Morente and Paco de Lucía, this project presents a fusion of styles such as flamenco, funk and latin jazz with afro-cuban folklore as a special ingredient.

With the publication of the DVD “Live From Patax Infinito”, the band Patáx presents itself as a jazz/fusion band consisting of a cast of virtuoso musicians from countries such as Spain, Italy, Argentina in an explosive combination of the language of improvisation with rhythms contagious.

John barred

João Barradas Trio

João Barradas, a young accordionist with a great respect for tradition, shows a great influence of the musical language of unavoidable instrumentalists, composers and jazz masters, from Ahmad Jamal to Herbie Hancock (pianists), or from Greg Osby to Sonny Stitt (saxophonists).

The accordion with a rhythm section (drums and double bass) allows the necessary freedom to build a sound that is little explored in the world of this aerophone.

His original compositions are based on a mainstream jazz language and are based on the desire to create contemporary music, free from prejudice, with its own sound and that reflects the experience in the XNUMXst century musical environment where the accordion presents itself as a tool of expression and not “just” a musical aesthetic.
