Thousands of visitors were there yesterday on the first night of the MED Festival, for an evening that brought together music and cultures from the world, entertainment, gastronomy, visual arts and much more. Therefore, the event that animates the Historic Area of Loulé until Sunday, the 28th, and which constitutes one of the most differentiating music festivals in the country, got off to a good start.

In musical terms, on the main stages, the night began with the best of Brazil and Portugal together in the voice of one of the national revelations, Cati Freitas.

It was also in Portuguese and in the feminine that one of the highlights of this first day of MED was registered, the concert by Carminho. With the Largo da Igreja Matriz “bursting at the seams”, the artist sang and enchanted in Loulé and proved, once again, that Fado is increasingly integrated into the circuit of world music.

The French Babylon Circus also took to the Matriz Stage, a return after nine years to the MED, always with the same contagious energy that distinguishes them.

Meanwhile, on Palco Cerca, the explosive mix of South Koreans Jambinai, in an original fusion of traditional Asian music and instruments with new musical genres, in a pure and hard rock and lots of distortion, was undoubtedly one of the night's surprises.

The night ended at Cerca with a vibrant concert by the irreverent Skip&Die, the South African/Dutch project, led by the South African singer Cata.Pirata (Catarina Aimée Dahms). With a strong presence on stage, the vocalist set the audience on fire.

In Castelo, the sounds were national and brought to this stage great revelations such as the Brass Wires Orchestra, the Tape Junk or the always lively DJ Set Clube Conguito.

Today, Ester Rada, Cumbia All Stars (Matrix), Raquel Tavares, Aziza Brahim and BAlkan Beat Box (Israel), Hidden Dances&Dom La Nena, Batida and Drumsprojx by Sylvadrums (Castle) take to the stage. In addition to the secondary stages and all the entertainment in the venue.

Tickets will now be on sale at the MED Ticket Office, in front of the Municipal Market, or in www.festivalmed.pt
